Pause and Pray

Hi everyone!

Just a weekly friendly reminder to stay with your prayer and bible reading.

For this Sunday, let’s all read Hebrews 5 (we’ll head back into Acts next week).  Hebrews 5:11-14 was something I was led to share with the group this past Sunday.   Let’s read it together.  I’ll write more about it in a separate post.

Peace,
Mark

Fighting the good "warfare?"

< ![CDATA[When Urian and I asked each other which books of the Bible we should continue to share from now that Galatians and Ephesians were done, we looked to 1st and 2nd Timothy.  In the ESV, the famous NIV rendering of "Fight the good fight" takes on a deeper meaning when it can also be translated as "fight the good warfare".  Warfare - battle - not just a mere fight, but something that has a large scale implication requiring many little fights, ups and downs, advances and retreats, and a consistent strategy.       I will be sharing from 1st Timothy this Sunday, followed by the rest of you on successive Sundays by Urian and then  followed by the ladies. So, in the midst of our spiritual war, continue to pray.  Read the next 2 chapters in the book of Acts so we can share what the Lord is teaching us. Last thing:  David Gibbons, head pastor of New Song church (the denomination of Metro church in NJ), was interviewed in an article last fall and he reveals a change in church that is amazing.  Click hear to read the full article:  THE ARTICLE.

See you all Sunday! (tomorrow!)  Come together “prayed up” and ready for worship and some warfare.  Jericho fell through praise and worship warfare.   Sounds like fun!

Realizing our current "purpose"

< ![CDATA[

Something clicked with me last week.  A subtle revelation was revealed that helped put the many pieces of the puzzle that God has been revealing to me (and us) over the past year or so.   It all started with my brother years and years ago – with signs and wonders and messages about church and the return of Christ.  Then over a year and a half ago, I began to hear the same messages from James and Meeso.  More than coincidence.  The Lord at work.

Now a year plus later, we are worshiping the Lord together every week, seeking after Him in a new context – the home church setting – enjoying Him, learning, getting trained, getting healed of many things and expecting further revelation and his purposes for us in this season of life.
I pondered our relationship with other “churches” or bodies of worship that gather in more traditional settings.  How can I explain what I do to my friends or other Christians?  How do I choose where to go for church?   First, being a Christian is not about “where I should commit the next year or 5 years” in terms of church.  Like with all things, as one is maturing in a relationship with Christ, the question becomes, “where does the Lord want me to be?” with the understanding that the Lord can reveal new directions at anytime.  The trick is to be discerning every day.  God is preparing his church and in mercy and grace he uses the Church, he has clearly revealed that he is “cleaning house”.

He still loves the church and that is why he is cleaning house… he won’t “bless” the church as it is forever, for as the end approaches, 1 Peter 4:17 says that judgement starts with the house of God.
For me, it is a matter of being responsible with the revelation we are given.  We have been given information, credible witnesses have testified to us about these things, and if God is behind it, we should “listen” and prayerfully obey.
So is our church “better”?  The answer is no, there is no better, only the will of the Lord.  Our gathering is a calling.  I realize that our specific time now is to meet with those being led out of the traditional (and or dead) churches and to learn how to do home church.  We’re learning how the church should operate without the walls and time limits of a 1.5 hour church service.  We’re learning how to pray for one another and become trained in the gifts of the holy spirit.  We’re learning how to heal one another.  The Lord showed me that we still have a while longer to go in order for Him to show us what we need to learn and experience.  Until then I’m committed to following His will.
Should we judge other churches?  No.  Only God has that right.  But if our friends do not have a clear calling one way or another, let them be, love them, worship and pray with them, share with them the things the Lord teaches you (use wisdom, not everything revealed is for everyone to know right away).  Go where God is leading you.
The Lord showed me that others may join us, but that could just mean that there are others experiencing the same thing as us or God may indeed send others to physically join us.  Regardless, the Lord gives the revelation and interpretation belongs to him.
I hope what I wrote encourages you all.   Be bold and do not grow weary.  He will lift you up on wings as eagles.
See you all soon!
Peace, Mark

Easter Reading

Hi sisters and brothers!

The holy days bring us a great tool to come together with one mind and one heart, to meditate on one event shared by Christians the world over.  The pivotal event in human History that separates our religion from all others – pointing the direction to the truth.

For this Sunday, let’s all read Luke chapters 22 – 24.

I am reminded on this wonderful communal holiday of 1 Corinthians 15:13-7:

But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.

Stay the Course

I wish today I could say something extremely profound to impress and excite you, but alas, I have only an encouragement to “Stay the Course.”

Stay the course” is a phrase used in the context of a war or battle meaning to pursue a goal regardless of any obstacles or criticism. The modern usage of this term was popularized by a few U.S. presidents.  “Stay the course” allegedly originated as a nautical metaphor on maintaining a constant, un-altering course while navigating.

Today as I awoke, I heard the song “This is our God” in my head, it was just there playing like a recording.  I realize more and more that all of life just comes down to a few simple things, the top being – know your God.
